Man Upstairs

"Kelly, who do you live with at home?"  I asked.

"Well, I live with Mommy and Daddy in our house.  My Mommy's friend lives upstairs in the attic.  When Daddy leaves for work, the man in the attic comes downstairs and goes into Mommy's bedroom with her."

"Christopher why are you so tired?"  I asked as Chris had his head laying on his desk during Social Studies.  I expected an answer such as, "Social Studies is boring."  Instead I got, "I'm just so tired from this morning.  I really worked hard during gym class."

First Day of School

Sometimes my students can make me feel like a supermodel.  As they walk into the classroom, they compliment everything from my haircut (which my husband didn't even notice) all the way down to my toenail polish.  At one point during the day, I knelt down next to Carolyn's desk and she took one look at me and blurted out, "Wow, you have the longest eyelashes ever!"  I replied, "Well thank you!"  Carolyn then told me, "That was definitely not a compliment."  And on that first day of school, I surely did not feel like a supermodel.
